La Fete d'Automne, a.k.a. the annual Young Friends of the Philadelphia Art Museum's Rodin Party, was held Thursday, September 9th. One of the better parties for the 25-40 age group, the Rodin Party once again delivered - a slew of well-heeled, attractive young professionals in high spirits converged upon the Rodin Museum at 22nd and the Parkway.

The Print Center hosted an opening party for their most recent exhibition featuring Re-Pose by Isaac Diggs, Photoplay by Jenny Lynn, and For You by Liliana Porter. The artists were on hand for questions and conversation as patrons milled about the galleries, wines in hand.

The National Constitution Center presented William Coleman with an award for a lifetime of achievement in civic engagement on Saturday, September 23rd. Mr. Coleman started his career as Secretary of Transportation under President Ford and went on to work in law, business and public service. Coleman was presented the award by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, with an introduction by Peter Jennings of ABC News. Granddaughter, Flavia Colgan (you know her as a political analyst on MSNBC) was on hand as well. Proceeds from the awards dinner will benefit educational programming at the National Constitution Center.

The Philadelphia Orchestra opened the season at the Kimmel Center on Tuesday, September 21st with a concert and dinner gala despite patrons' worries that the musical portion of the evening would not get underway due to union negotiations. Happily, we can report that the concert was right on schedule, and was wonderful, with Christoph Eschenbach conducting and famed soprano, Renee Fleming trilling and thrilling all.

All summer long, every Friday night, the Philadelphia Museum of Art hosts Jazz and Martini theme nights. We wrote about them in this month's Best of Philly and stopped in on Friday, August 13th to check it out. Unfortunately, due to threatening weather the martini bar on the portico was closed, but check back on the nights of the 20th and 27th.
