The Young Friends of the Philadelphia Orchestra held their annual Halloween Party at the Kimmel Center.

Eagles, Kixx, Phillies, and Wings athletes showed up to this fundraiser at Buffalo Billiards on Thursday, October 9th. The original name of the Northern Home for Children was the Northern Home for Friendless Children. Initially an orphanage for children of soldiers and sailors who died in the Civil War, this wonderful charity has been around since 1853 continually helping children and families in need.

The Breast Health Institute held its annual Give the Shirt Off Your Back gala at the Hyatt at Penn's Landing. Fashion Designer Narciso Rodriguez not only donated several pieces to the silent auction, but made a special in-person appearance too, to the delight of the guests – many fashionistas among the crowd. The auction and ticket proceeds all went to help fund breast cancer research and support.

Winebrats Philadelphia, a group of oenophiles (some of whom would pride themselves on never using that word) who want to dispel the notion that wine lovers are wine snobs, held a wine tasting (imagine that…) at Maggiano's Little Italy restaurant on Tuesday, October 7th. Over 50 people, mostly between 25 and 40 years old, attended.

The theme of this year's Beaux Arts Ball on October 25th was Forms, Frames and Figures – an evening in blue and bronze. Many people came with picture frames around their necks. About half of the guests were in costume; the other half in black tie. Or blue and bronze tie.
