The Police Athletic League held the first fundraising and awareness event in its 56 year history specifically for young professionals. The event, a live auction and cocktail party, attracted local celebs and tons of attractive happy hour bidders.

The Center For Literacy celebrated 35 years of service to the Philadelphia area by joining forces with WHYY and Symphony Space to present "Selected Shorts: A Celebration of the Short Story" at the Loews Hotel on November 19th. Guest speakers were actor Jane Curtin, Daniel Alexander Jones, and series host, Isaiah Sheffer.

Part I of Angels In America, Millenium Approaches, the HBO film, was shown at a special premiere reception at the Prince Music Theater on November 17th. Co-sponsored by HBO, Comcast, AIDS Fund, Equality Forum, Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival and the Upenn LBGT Center.

The 27th Annual Philadelphia Museum of Art Craft Show preview party was held November 13-16, at Convention Center in center city. Some of the best contemporary American crafts by 190 artists from across the country were showcased

The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts hosted the sixth annual Marian Anderson Award gala. Oprah Winfrey was the special guest this year. Commonwealth Plaza in the Kimmel Center was decked out for dinner before the concert. Performers included Kathleen Battle, Quincy Jones, Lionel Richie, and Thomas Floyd.
