On Saturday, May 19, 2013, more than 65,000 people gathered on Walnut Street, from the Avenue of the Arts to Rittenhouse Square, for one of Philadelphia’s most anticipated outdoor festivals. Guests enjoyed samplings from Rittenhouse Row’s best restaurants paired with tastings of Captain Morgan® Black Spiced Rum, Peroni, and Chairman’s Selection™ wines. The American Heart Association hosted its annual Go Red For Women (GRFW) Luncheon and Health Expo at the Marriott Downtown Philadelphia on May 18, 2012. Approximately 700 guests all donned red in support of the Go Red movement and its fight to end the number one killer of women, heart disease. In addition, this year there were two Woman of Heart co-honorees: Eliana Papadakis, former First Lady, Drexel University; and Justice Sandra Schultz Newman, the first female justice elected to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. On Friday, May 18, 2012, guests gathered at Roche Bobois Philadelphia to view the new 2012 collection, featuring eco-friendly design. Guests enjoyed hors doeuvres and desserts by Feastivities Events, paired with Louis Jadot and Bouvet wines. Outside, the 2012 Fisker Karma Eco-Sport and Karma Eco-Chic were on display while Hifi House set the mood inside and out with the latest in high performance home audio technology. On Thursday, May 17, 2012, guests gathered at SugarHouse Casino for a girls night out featuring Skinnygirl Cocktails. Guests indulged in the newest additions to the familySkinnygirl wines and flavored vodkas, complimentary products and services from local salons and spas, and hors d'oeuvres from The Refinery at SugarHouse Casino. Hundreds of Kentucky Derby enthusiasts joined the People’s Emergency Center for an evening of Southern traditions with a Philadelphia flare at PEC’s inaugural “Race to Make a Difference” benefiting PEC’s commitment to serving Philadelphia’s homeless women and their children. Oversized hats adorned with flowers and bows were judged in a hat contest by a panel of celebrity judges, including Project Runway contestant Kristin Haskins Sims; couture boutique owner Joan Shepp; and Missy Dietz, General Manager of Neiman Marcus in King of Prussia. Guests experienced the thrilling two-minute race on a Jumbotron screen while enjoying signature mint juleps, live entertainment and southern-style hors d’oeuvres.
