On Saturday, October 15, 2011, The National Liberty Museum held its Glass Now Auction at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott Hotel. The Glass Now event featured a cocktail reception followed by a silent auction, dinner and “live” auction of 300 glass art sculptures. The Glass Now Gala, highlighted with the Auction at the Marriott, was part of a 3-day weekend event raising funds for the Museum’s educational work to empower visitors, children and teachers to celebrate diversity, good character and defuse violence. The event's Weekend Gala featured visits to homes of area collectors; a glass film festival and an awards ceremony honoring National Liberty Museum Board Member Brian Daggett and Glass Now Committee Chair, Franz Rabauer. The Philadelphia couple was named ‘2011 Collector Honorees’ for their extraordinary commitment to the Museum’s mission of diversity and years of glass art collecting. On Saturday, October 15, 2011, the Philadelphia affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure held its 10th Annual Pink Tie Ball. The event raised more than half a million dollars for breakthrough research and to empower the fight against breast cancer. The party was held at the new Vie banquet facility and the celebration featured unique auctions and an all-star concert by The Crystals, Marvelettes, Shirelles, Tony Grandberry and Anthony Riley. On Tuesday, October 18, Bill and Amy Green hosted a gluten-free dinner at their home to benefit the National Foundation for Celiac Awareness (NFCA).Guests were treated to gluten-free food provided by Marc Vetri, as well as demonstrations from Chef Walter Balkiewicz (Amis) and Monica Glass (10Arts Bistro & Lounge). The event also featured a silent auction and wine tasting.

On Friday, October 14, 2011, guests celebrated the Premiere of The Mighty Macs. The evening opened with a red carpet cocktail event and ended with a fabulous 70's disco dance party. The Mighty Macs is a film based on the incredible true story of the 1971-72 Immaculata College women's basketball team. The event, held at the Verizon Hall & Commonwealth Plaza, featured famed guests such as actors Carla Gugino, David Boreanaz, Marley Shelton, and Ellen Burstyn. Other guests include Sister R. Patricia Fadden (Immaculata President) and Coach Cathy Rush (Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Inductee, 2008) as well as Pat Croce, Vince Curran, Anthony Gargano, Phil Martelli, Michael Smerconish, Jay Wright, and assorted former Immaculata players. Photography. by Ryan Lavine
