The Delaware River Port Authority and the Franklin Institute Science Museum got together on Wednesday, December 11th to present a new IMAX film, Home of Freedom, set here in Philadelphia. Local mom-on-the-move, and TV personality Linda Swain belts out her Philadelphia Song in the film too.
 
The Philadelphia Art Alliance's Teddy Bear Auction and Pawty on December 4th was held at the gallery on South 18th Street. There were bears of all types being auctioned off to loving homes. The bears were created by organizations like the Academy of Vocal Arts, Le Bec Fin, Pennsylvania Ballet, Project H.O.M.E. and WHYY.
 
The 21st Century Society, the Young Friends of the Philadelphia Orchestra held one of their Happy Hours at the Phoenix's bar/restaurant, Tir Na Nog, which means The Land of Youth to raise awareness of the Young Friends' party at the 2003 Academy Ball. At $200 per ticket, this might be the most costly of any of the various Young Friend groups' ticket of the year, but the party can't be beat. It's also white-tie, so get your penguin suit out boys.
 
Prend garde a toi! The Opera Company of Philadelphia kicked off the season with the Carmen Gala, held November 8th at the Hyatt at the Bellevue. The theme was Black Tie with a Touch of Red and those with some spirit followed that decree. Those who were more conservative admired their fellow opera lovers' red purses, cumberbunds, bows, socks, etc…
 
Philadelphia is home to two French Master Chefs of national and international acclaim who lead a gourmet gala event to benefit the March of Dimes on Friday, November 1st. Georges Perrier and Jean Marie Lacroix return as host chefs for The March of Dimes "Une Soiree Parisienne" when six French Master Chefs take to the kitchen of The Rittenhouse to prepare a gourmet "Evening In Paris" for guests.
