On Wednesday, October 19, 2011, The School of Communications and Theater at Temple University Main Campus held the 11th annual Media Awards. The ceremony honored five Temple alumni who have excelled in the fields of communications and theater, and CBS News Sunday Morning anchor Charles Osgood was honored with his year's Excellence in the Media award. In addition to honoring communications and theater professionals, the event raised money for the Lew Klein Alumni in the Media Scholarship. This fund allows students to pursue internships, study abroad or create their own independent projects. Approximately a dozen students benefit from the scholarship each year. On October 18, 2011, Philadelphia magazine hosted the Rittenhouse Row Luxury Dinner Series presented by Infiniti at M Restaurant at The Morris House Hotel. On Sunday, October 16, 2011, guests gathered to help at Memorial Hall of the Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park for the Friends of the American Cancer Society's annual event. On Saturday, October 15, 2011, the Philadelphia affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure held its 10th Annual Pink Tie Ball. The event raised more than half a million dollars for breakthrough research and to empower the fight against breast cancer. The party was held at the new Vie banquet facility and the celebration featured unique auctions and an all-star concert by The Crystals, Marvelettes, Shirelles, Tony Grandberry and Anthony Riley.
