On Sunday, October 23, 2011, more than 800 women from across the Delaware Valley attended the Pink Roses Teal Magnolias Brunch at the Crowne Plaza in Cherry Hill. On Saturday, October 22, 2011, The Madlyn and Leonard Abramson Center for Jewish Life held its 21st annual Rainbow Ball at the Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn’s Landing. Evelyn and Ronald Krancer of Villanova received the Family Award, the Abramson Center’s highest honor, in recognition of their extraordinary commitment to improving the quality of life of older adults. The Abramson Center for Jewish Life, located in Horsham Township, Montgomery County, Pa., is a nonprofit provider of services to seniors. The event raised over $700,000 to benefit the cause. On Saturday, October 22, and Sunday, October 23, 2011, The Curtis Institute of Music celebrated the launch of the school's 2011-12 Appassionato season and the Curtis Symphony Orchestra's season premiere concert with a gala weekend. Guess enjoyed cocktails at Lefest Hall on the school's campus and also at the Radisson Plaza-Warwick Hotel where a gala dinner was held. On Sunday, October 23, the Curtis Symphony Orchestra and conductor Michael Stern, music director of the Kansas City Symphony, kicked off the orchestra’s 2011-12 season with a concert of works by Barber, Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, and the premiere of a new work by Curtis faculty member David Ludwig. All proceeds from the event benefitted the school’s Student Assistance Fund, which provides financial support for students' living expenses. Photography by David DeBalko.

On Saturday, October 22, 2011, JDT International hosted a community celebration and fundraiser for Urban Roots at The Flats at Girard Pointe.
