The Friends of Rittenhouse Square held their annual ball (that's the Ball on the Square, not the Square Ball) on Thursday, June 17th, a swelteringly hot night. Not to worry though, the tent in the middle of Rittenhouse Park was well air-conditioned. (For $700 per couple you bet it was.) Next time you walk through the park, note the beautiful flowers, lush grass, and numerous benches - proceeds from the ball go towards upkeep of the most popular park in Center City.

The Morris Arboretum's Moonlight and Roses gala did indeed feature many roses, and other beautiful flowers. Held outside in the gardens on Friday, June 11th , it was unseasonably chilly but still a festive night. Most wore garden party attire, albeit with wraps (or jackets filched from husbands) for the women.

The Philadelphia Zoo held a pre-party called The Animal Ball on Wednesday, June 9th for their annual Zoobilee. The attire at this high ticket, invitation only gala was exotic couture, which meant lots of animal prints. The swelteringly hot weather meant that many men showed up in shorts and loafers. They managed cummerbunds and dinner jackets, but the legs were bare.

The Children's Crisis Treatment Center held their annual Rodeo Roundup at the National Constitution Center on Friday, June 4th. James Ingram showed his support for this wonderful charity in a stellar performance. Supporters of the CCTC wore jeans and flannel shirts, red handkerchiefs, cowboy boots and hats, and other western-inspired gear. CCTC provides mental health services to abused, neglected or troubled children and their families, such as a therapeutic nursery, outpatient services, trauma assistance, and a West African Refugee Assistance program, among others. Philadelphia Eagles' quarterback Donovan McNabb headed up a progressive dinner through Old City for his organization, Philly Flavor, to garner support for diabetes sufferers. The evening started with a cocktail party at Loew's Hotel and ended with a party at the Moshulu. McNabb's father, Sam, suffers from Diabetes. He and Mrs. McNabb are very involved with Philly Flavor as well.
