On Monday, March 5, 2012, G Philly hosted its second annual LGBT Night Out at the Philadelphia International Flower Show. Over 300 members of Philadelphia's LGBT community enjoyed hors d’oeuvres and sampled Hawaiian-themed cocktails featuring Smirnoff's Whipped Cream and Fluffed Marshmallow flavored vodkas. Bartending for the evening were none other than G Philly's favorite bartenders: Austin Algeo of Woody's, Angela Bibey of Stir, Tony Nguyen of Voyeur and John Russo of ICandy. On Thursday, March 1, 2012, more than 75 people gathered at Macy’s Center City Grand Court for the official launch of the Philadelphia Fashion Incubator at Macy’s Center City designer-in-residence program. Philadelphia Mayor Michael A. Nutter, Terry Lundgren, Macy’s Inc. Chairman, President and CEO, and Paul Levy, Center City District President and CEO, revealed the inaugural class of the five selected emerging Philadelphia-area designers that will be provided the tools and resources needed to launch a successful fashion design company in Philadelphia. After a private ribbon-cutting ceremony, the selected designers joined family, friends and supporters for a reception complete with light bites, refreshments and organ music. On Friday, February 24, 2012, Philadelphia magazine honored its 8th Annual Trailblazer Award recipient, Wendy Smith Born, co-owner and co-founder of Metropolitan Bakery, during a private luncheon at XIX at Hyatt at the Bellevue. The region’s most influential women and men in business gathered to recognize Wendy’s outstanding contributions to the city of Philadelphia, while they enjoyed a three-course meal and listened to the inspiring words of the 2012 Trailblazer. Guests sampled award-winning dishes from the region’s most talented chefs, relaxed in luxe lounges hosted by Mercedez-Benz and RBC Wealth Management, and sipped wines, beer, and signature cocktails.
