On October 14th, sponsors of the 16th Annual Breast Health International (BHI) Black Tie Gala were invited to an exclusive NATORI fashion show presented by gala honoree Neiman Marcus at the Mary Cassatt Tea Room in the Rittenhouse Hotel. Guests of the BHI Black Tie Gala Patron Party sipped cocktails and savored hors d’oeuvres while viewing a live runway presentation of NATORI’s Fall 2010 Lingerie Collection. A portion of NATORI fashions that were sold at the Patron Party benefited Breast Health International.
On Thursday, October 14, 2010, the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) hosted a reception on their campus in Lotman Lobby, Evans Hall. Thomas J. Gravina, Executive Chairman Co-Founder of GPX Enterprises L.P. and PCOM Trustee, received the President’s Leadership Award for his support of the PCOM Healthcare Centers and his work as a Trustee. Mr. Gravina has raised over three quarters of a million dollars for the PCOM Healthcare Centers over the past four years. The PCOM Healthcare Centers provide care for over 30,000 Pennsylvania residents annually. In addition, the reception recognized PCOM donors who have given $1,000 or more and also donors who have given consecutively for five years.
On October 13, 2010, Woodmere Art Museum welcomed William Valerio as the Patricia Van Burgh Allison Director and CEO of Woodmere Art Museum. In the midst of placing the finishing touches on their “Witch Boot Maze,” Woodmere Art Museum hosted a welcoming reception for the new director as he implements his first initiative in the new position. On Sunday, October 10, the public filled the streets to celebrate OutFest 2010—Philadelphia’s annual National Coming Out Day Block Party. Each year, OutFest attracts over 20,000 attendees, making it Philadelphia's second biggest LGBT annual event, and the largest National Coming Out Day event in the world. This year’s festival featured a wide variety of exciting activities from over 120 local businesses and organizations. The Minding Your Mind Foundation’s inaugural gala was held on October 10, 2010 – World Mental Health Day — at the Haverford School. All proceeds benefited the Minding Your Mind Foundation for enlightening attitudes towards Mental Health. Dr. Dan Gottlieb, author of several books and host of the radio show, “Voices in the Family,” on WHYY was presented with a special Changing Minds Award for all of his work in the mental health field. Tara Conner, Public Advocacy Consultant for Caron Treatment Centers and former Miss USA, shared her personal story in hopes of raising awareness in treatment available for substance abuse.
