On August 10th, Daily News columnist Stu Bykofsky hosted his annual Candidates ComedyNight to raise money for Variety-The Children's Charity. It's a show in which candidates like Philadelphia District Attorney, Democrat Lynne Abraham takes the stage and tries to be funny on purpose. The show started during the 1991 mayoral campaign in Philadelphia and has grown since then into a "must do" event for candidates. Variety is a non-profit oranization run by volunteers that offers services and programs that improve the quality of life for cildren with disabilities. Some of those include, educational and therapeuticand recreational programs. Variety also offers many other opportunities such as afterschool programs, dance and The Golf-BuddyProgram.

On Thursday, August 4, Georges, one of Chef Perrier's signature restaurants hosted a tribute dinner to Alex Scott. Executive chefs Joseph Frost and Keith Rudolph have created a pre-fixe menue highlighting the foods Alex loved. A portion of the proceeds went to Alex's Lemonade Stand.

On Saturday July 30th guests elegantly dressed in white made their way up the red carpet onto the deck of the historical 4 masted sailing ship aka: Moshulu. There they enjoyed free drinks and hors d'oeuvres while enjoying the sounds of a caribbean band followed by DJ Kam. Another treat was the free hair and make up show featuring creative stylists and a fashion show highlighting the hottest trends. Special guest comedian Denny Live was set to perform as well. All proceeds were donated directly to the HIV/AIDS awareness programs through Philadelphia FIGHT.

On July 27, 2005, World Cafe Live became alive with the Best of Philly winners party 2005. Sponsored by Mercedes Benz, Hi Fi House, Sharp, Penns Grove Riverwalk, USTA Middle States section, Bank of America, and benefiting the Mural Arts Program, the party was a huge success. With almost 400 different categories from Best Hoagie to Best Urban Spa, the winners and guests enjoyed the unveiling of The Best of Philly issue which hit newstands on August 1st.
