Philadelphia magazine honored its seventh annual Trailblazer Award recipient, Ahmeenah Young, president and CEO of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, during a private luncheon at Butcher and Singer. The region’s most influential women and men gathered to recognize Ahmeenah’s outstanding contributions to the city of Philadelphia, while they enjoyed a three-course meal and listened to the inspiring words of the 2011 Trailblazer. The 2011 L’Amour & Couture Gala was inspired by the Opera Company of Philadelphia’s production of Gounod’s Romeo & Juliet, in which the Montagues and Capulets are portrayed as competing modern-day fashion houses. The L’Amour & Couture Gala, held at the Loews Hotel, featured a special preview runway show of the 16 winning student designs that appear in the production, as well as a cocktail hour, seated dinner, live and silent auctions, and a musical performance by Curtis Institute of Music soprano Elizabeth Reiter with Academy of Vocal Arts graduate bass-baritone Daniel Mobbs and current resident artists mezzo-soprano Olivia Vote and tenor Taylor Stayton. On February 3, Philadelphia magazine hosted Part II of the Rittenhouse Row Luxury Dinner Series, presented by Infiniti. Guests were invited to Lacroix at the Rittenhouse—seven-time Best of Philly® winner—and enjoyed a three-course menu prepared by Executive Restaurant Chef Jon Cichon along with a private tour of his state-of-the-art kitchen. On Saturday, January 29, 2011 guests gathered at the Hyatt at the Bellevue for the Academy Ball and Concert. This year's theme, “Protecting Philadelphia’s Cultural Treasures,” highlights the remarkable non-profit organizations in our region that make a difference every day in the lives of our citizens. Guests included musicians Paul Simon and Renée Fleming. Proceeds benefit the Academy of Music and The Philadelphia Orchestra Association. The gala was chaired by Sandra G. Marshall and Charles P.
