On January 24, 2009, the Academy of Music celebrated its 152nd anniversary. Guests enjoyed classical favorites by Maestro Christoph Eschenbach and The Philadelphia Orchestra. On January 15, 2009, The Philadelphia Industry Lounge set up at tent at the 2009 Sundance Film Festival to draw attention to our city as a great movie-making town. The Philadelphia Industry Lounge was created with the support of Mayor Nutter and the Greater Philadelphia Film office to market Philadelphia directly to filmmakers and entertainment professionals.

On January 14, 2009, the Constitution Center hosted an evening reception to kick off the opening of America I AM: The African American Imprint exhibition. The 15,000 square foot exhibition highlights the influence of African Americans across the nation and around the world. Tavis Smiley, Cornel West, Carl Lewis, and Harry Belafonte were among the guests.
