On Saturday, February 7, 2009, the Katharine Hepburn Medal was presented to Jane Golden, the director of the Philadelphia Mural Arts Program, at the National Constitution Center. The medal recognizes women whose lives, work and contributions embody the intelligence, drive and independence of the four-time-Oscar-winning actress.

On Friday, January 30, 2009, The Greater Philadelphia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the foremost non-profit advocate for local Hispanic business, held its Second Annual Alegria Ball to celebrate the achievements of the organization and show appreciation to the business community for their support.
