On Friday, March 13, 2009, The Philadelphia Youth Orchestra celebrated their 69th anniversary season at the Union League. Guests enjoyed an art sale with work by prominent local artists and a special performance of Rachmaninoff’s "Symphonic Dances" by the Philadelphia Youth Orchestra, led by Maestro Louis Scaglione. All proceeds benefited the PYO scholarship and financial aid fund.

On Wednesday, March 11, 2009, Steppingstone Scholars, Inc. hosted its annual Salsa Into Saks fundraiser — a kick-off event for the annual Spring Salsa 2009 to be held on April 24th. The shopping fiesta, which took place at Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, supports the organization's effort to prepare urban school children for acceptance and success at the top college preparatory schools in the Philadelphia area.
