On Thursday, September 8, 2011, Wills Eye Institute held its 23rd Annual Form in Art Exhibition. Guests enjoyed a cocktail reception while viewing the showcases of artwork created by visually impaired artists of the Form in Art class at the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Following the exhibition was the dedication of the William Tasman, MD, Endowed Chair in Ophthalmology and the Investiture of its Inaugural Recipient, Julia A. Haller, MD, Ophthalmologist-in-Chief at Wills. Both doctors were honored for their distinguished careers and continuing contributions to the field of Ophthalmology. On Thursday September 7, 2011, Shore Medical Group, CEO Ron Johnson, VIP's and distinguished community leaders unveiled Shore Medical Center's new $125 million, sustainably designed Surgical Pavilion and Campus Expansion at the grand opening celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Phillies strutted their stuff on Thursday, August 25, 2011 for the 2nd Annual Victorino Fashion Show, sponsored by the Shane Victorino Foundation and presented by Saks Fifth Avenue and Ceasars Atlantic City. 450 guests, including 150 VIPs, attended the event at the Union League, where they enjoyed dinner, drinks and a silent auction along with the show. Several of this year's city election candidates, including Mayor Michael Nutter and his Republican opponent Karen Brown, took a crack at their stand-up skills on Thursday, August 18, 2011, when they performed at the 21st annual “Stu Bykofsky Candidates Comedy Night,” held at Finnigan's Wake. The event sponsored Variety, a non-profit children's charity that works to earn money for programs designed to provide educational, therapeutic, and recreational programs for children with disabilities. The opposing candidates for register of wills, Democratic incumbent Ron Donatucci and Republican Linda W. On Tuesday, August 12th Sponsors, press, co-chairs and donors of Living Beyond Breast Cancer’s Butterfly Ball came together at Le Castagne in celebration of the event which will mark LBBC’s 20th anniversary. The 20th Anniversary Butterfly Ball: Club 20 presented by White House | Black Market will take place on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at PÊCHE at Sherman Mills. Brian Kappra, of Evantine Design, will transform PÊCHE into the hottest nightspot in Philadelphia. The event will feature entertainment by Philadelphia’s noted DJ, Jerry Blavat, as well as food by Peachtree & Ward catering, special guests, a fabulous live and silent auction and raffle items provided by Govberg Jewelers and the Loews Philadelphia.
