On Friday, April 24, 2009, at the Please Touch Museum in Fairmount Park's Memorial Hall, Steppingstone Scholars held its annual Spring Salsa. Guests enjoyed dinner, cocktails, music, dancing. Steppingstone Scholars aims to assist urban school children in planning educational futures leading to college, and with more than 340 people attending the event, over $290,000 was raised to put toward the program. On Monday, April 20, 2009, Temple University held a ribbon- cutting ceremony and open house to celebrate the opening of Alter Hall, home to the University's new 217,000-square-foot, state of the art Fox School of Business. The interior features a 177-foot elliptical stock ticker and smart classrooms. Alter Hall was made possible with a $15 million gift from Gisela and Dennis Alter, chairman and CEO of Advanta.
