On Saturday, June 10, 2011 the Morris Arboretum celebrated the 30th anniversary of the annual Moonlight and Roses fundraiser gala. The theme and decor reveled in the history of the arboretum, featuring historic elements of the gardens taken from the Morris Arboretum Archives. 650 guests mingled throughout the picturesque Morris Arboretum Rose Garden, and 350 stayed for dinner and dancing with music provided by the popular Janis Nowlan Band. The event resulted in a revenue of $232,700 with a net Revenue of $112,700. The proceeds will go to annual operations and the Historic Preservation Fund, a fund which seeks to protect and preserve the arboretum's vast and beautiful property. Coaches from Philadelphia schools such as Villanova, Temple, St. Joseph's, La Salle, UPenn and Drexel came out to raise awareness and funds to combat cancer with the Coaches vs. Cancer Basketball Gala on Friday, June 10, 2011. Chef Masaharu Morimoto and STARR Restaurants hosted the event, Morimoto for Japan, on June 7, 2011, to raise funds for the Philadelphia-Japan Disaster Relief Fun. While sipping champagne, guests watched Chef Morimoto carve into a 200-pound tuna. The restaurant then offered a five-course Omakase tasting menu paired with drinks to complement the meal. The Freeman's Auction House held a live auction toward the end of the night with packages such as a dinner for 10 prepared by Chef Morimoto, which sold for $21,000. Photographs by Courtney Apple.

On Monday, June 6, 2011, the Philadelphia Theatre Company celebrated its 35th annual anniversary gala at the Park Hyatt at the Bellevue. Long-time board members Kenneth S. Kasierman (of Kaiserman Company, Inc.) and Sara Garonzik (the PTC Producing Artistic Director) were recognized at the event. Tony and Emmy-award winning Tyne Daly and film star Kathleen Turner, along with PTC performer John Glover and star of Ragtime, Quentin Darrington made appearances as well. America's Next Top Model Anchal Joseph was the special guest at Alycia Kaback's Meet and Greet at Beauty 101 Spa on Saturday, June 4, 2011. The former Vogue Art Director, Ryan Colby, oversaw the styling for the event and brought along several of his models. Alycia Kaback serves as investor and advisor to Colby Models and was searching for all kinds of talent (models, actors and comedians) at the event.
