Former Tangerine chef, Christopher Painter, heads up the kitchen at Stephen Starr's latest addition to the Philadelphia restaurant scene, Angelina. The new eatery features genuine Italian cooking, as opposed to fusion or Americanized versions of Italian dishes. The gorgeously designed space at Seventh and Chestnut was done by designers Owen Kamihira and Jun Aizaki. Check out the inviting bar with its wall o' wine for a pre-dinner cocktail. This spot is hot!
 
The Children's Crisis Treatment Center's third annual "Cruise For The Kids" cocktail party and auction was held at the Hyatt Regency at Penn's Landing on Wednesday, September 10th. The nautical themed event helped raise over $60,000 to help Philadelphia children whose lives have been affected by physical abuse, sexual abuse, neglect and abandonment, or extreme violence. The Institute of Contemporary Art held a reception on Thursday, September 4th to showcase artist Patti Smith's works on paper from the 1960's until the presnt, including a reent series of large-scale drawings inspired by September 11th, 2001. Patti Smith will be performing acoustic music and poetry at the Annenberg Theater on October 16th.
 
The Philadelphia Museum of Art drew international attention by kicking off a fashion exhibit entitled "Shocking!" that showcases the work of Italian-born clothing designer, Elsa Schiaparelli with a Shocking! Gala. The pink-themed party was held on Thursday, September 25th in the Great Hall of the art museum. Attire was black-tie, or Shocking, of course.
 
MANNA, as many of you know, prepares and delivers three healthy meals a day to Philadelphians whose lives have been negatively impacted by the AIDS virus. The main recipients of MANNA's manna are single mothers and their children. This awards dinner was held in honor of Steve Korman and Lynne Honickman at the Hyatt at Penn's Landing on Wednesday, September 24th.
