Crossing the Finish Line, a non-profit organization that sends young adult cancer patients and their caregivers on a week long vacation as a respite from the stress of their disease and treatment, held their annual Beach Ball on Saturday, January 17th at the Liberty Place shopping center's rotunda.

Patrice Rames, formerly the chef at Bistro Saint Tropez, opened his own restaurant/lounge aptly named Patou, which was his childhood nickname, at 312 Market Street on Tuesday, January 13th. He aims to call to mind the ambiance of the French Riviera and does so with boating motifs, beachy white walls, and of course, the attractive french staffers. The nibbles were outstanding – tiny burgers topped with foie gras and mushrooms and onions sauteed in truffled oil remain in our memory. We shall return.
This year the Morris Animal Refuge, a no-kill shelter and adoption center, held their annual Furball at the Society Hill Sheraton on Saturday, January 10th. Tenderhearted animal lovers, many in costume (but none in fur), grazed the buffet tables, perused the silent auction items and danced to the Dave Gustafson Orchestra.
