On Thursday, May 21, 2009, The Pier Shops at Caesars held the first annual Girls' Night Out. The night included shopping with sales, complimentary cocktails, and product sampling.

On Monday, May 18, 2009, Fresh Artists held their first Spring Salon and Student Art Show at The Comcast Center’s Ralph’s Café. The event was hosted by the The Do Gooders, and over 200 guests admired the artwork of 87 K-12 students from 17 Philadelphia schools. Photography by Marta Newstat.

On Sunday, May 17, 2009, the Morgan and Smokey Brown Foundation held is first Annual Spring Fling at the Cescaphe Ballroom. More than 150 guests enjoyed an open bar and buffet, an auction, and live music by the Sensational Soul Cruisers. Proceeds went to the Morgan and Smokey Brown Foundation, which aims to aid Port Richmond students in pursuing higher education.

On Saturday, May 16th, ACHIEVEability held its 6th Annual Spring Gala at Urban Outfitters at the Navy Yard. The anti-poverty organization awarded State Board of Education chairman Joseph Torsella its 2009 Commitment to Education award. Mayor Nutter, last year's award recipient, was also on hand.
