On Sunday, July 18th, actor Chris Noth, aka “Mr. Big” of Sex and the City, launched the opening of live table games at Parx Casino. Noth did a table games ribbon-cutting and threw out ceremonial first dice. Table games at the newly revamped casino will include craps, blackjack, three-card poker, baccarat, and roulette. On July 17th, the Brown Bear Art and Music Festival took place in Clark Park. Hosted by DJ K.L. Diablo, all proceeds went toward rebuilding Haiti. The event was followed by an after-party at the Tiberino Museum.

On Sunday, July 11th, the public filled the streets for a Block Party to celebrate 40 Years of Philadelphia's vibrant Gayborhood. This event was part of a two-week celebration dubbed “There’s No Place Like Home,” which included a ribbon cutting ceremony, QFest, colorful photo exhibits and special offers throughout the city. During the event, guests sampled the refreshing Finlandia Crush, participated in several games as part of the Wachovia's "Get Hands On" activity center, and even had a chance to dunk Mr. Gay Philadelphia in the dunk tank. Beneficial Bank, the Presenting Sponsor of the Philadelphia Freedoms, hosted VIP events with tennis stars Venus Williams and Andy Roddick at The Pavilion at Villanova University on the evenings of July 8 and 15. More than 100 VIP guests from the Philadelphia and Main Line regions attended the matches to cheer on the Freedoms as they took on the Washington Kastles and Boston Lobster teams. As a part of their commitment to the community, Beneficial Bank provided children from Philadelphia nonprofit organizations- Arthur Ashe Youth Tennis and Education and Impact Services Corporation- with opportunities to learn from tennis pros and attend the Philadelphia Freedoms matches.
