On Friday, June 6, 2008, the Pennsylvania Ballet hosted a post-party to celebrate the premiere of "Carnival of the Animals", a fantastic tale of Oliver Percy, a young boy who inadvertently spends a night at a museum, with special narration for three performances by two-time Tony-Award winner John Lithgow. Guests enjoyed cocktails and a chance to meet Lithgow, director Roy Kaiser, world-renowned choreographer Christopher Wheeldon and composer Peter Quanz. Photography by Jessica Vermeer Hawkes.
On Wednesday, June 4, 2008, the 5th Annual UBS Motor Cars Under the Stars was held at historic Cairnwood in Bryn Athyn, to benefit United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Philadelphia. Guests strolled the grounds of industrialist John Pitcairn’s estate and viewed an extensive antique carriage collection, as well as a spectacular display of collector automobiles from exclusive private collections and modern day classics from Jaguar and Land Rover. On Wednesday, June 4, 2008, Riverbend Environmental Education Center held their Go Green Gala — an all green event — at Haverford College’s Gardner Integrated Athletic Center. Guests enjoyed an eco-friendly auction and dined on food selections focused on farm-fresh ingredients purchased from local sustainable farmers. Proceeds benefited Riverbend’s mission to teach environmental principles to children.
On Sunday, June 1, 2008, The Mann Center for the Performing Arts held a cocktail reception at the White Manor Country Club in Malvern to celebrate opening night. On Saturday, May 31, 2008, the Kimmel Center held Country Summer in the City, which raises critical funds for the Kimmel Center’s educational programs, including curriculum-based performing arts classes, student matinees and the Kimmel Youth Jazz Ensemble.
