On Saturday, August 8, 2009, the first couples of Philadelphia Division I college basketball hosted the annual Coaches vs. Cancer ball at the Stone Harbor Golf Club. Neil Hartman of Comcast SportsNet emceed the event, and guests enjoyed an evening of cocktails, hors’dourves, dinner, and dancing. On Wednesday, August 8, 2009, Jamie Joffe and Michele Seidman threw a cocktail party at the home of Eric and Michele Seidman to raise money on behalf of The Do-Gooders, a grassroots organization that aims to financially assist and support various individuals and groups in the city.

On Thursday, July 30, 2009, The Mann Center held its annual Party in the Park Gala. Guests enjoyed food and cocktails from Alma de Cuba, Pod, Barclay Prime, and Buddakan, as well as musical performances by Lang Lang, Herbie Hancock, and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
