On Thursday, September 15, 2011, Mitchell & Ness, industry leaders in authentic, vintage-inspired sports apparel , hosted the Fall 2011 private preview event during The Philadelphia Collection. The even provided guests with an exclusive look into new arrivals including the newest styles of vintage-inspired NFL, MLB, NHL and NBA apparel and headwear for men and women. On Thursday, September 15, 2011, Philadelphia magazine, along with BMW and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, hosted an exclusive wine tasting reception at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. The evening’s attendees included executive physicians and oncologists from CHOP, the hospital's prominent Cancer Center supporters, and special guest Christopher Bachman of Robert Mondavi. Guests were able to explore the BMW 7 Series and the BMW 6 Series and one lucky guest won the opportunity of a lifetime—a two-day trip to the M Performance Driving School. On Wednesday September 14, 2011, Stephen Starr, Michael Solomonov, and Audrey Claire Taichman hosted a benefit cocktail party for the Philadelphia Fringe Festival at Pier 9 on Columbus Boulevard. On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, Dr. Robert M. Gates was honored with this year's Liberty Medal for his five decades of service to the United States as the director of the CIA and as the civilian head of America's armed forces. Gates has received wide bipartisan support and has throughout his career been dedicated to promoting effective diplomacy, defending our freedom, and supporting the American troops. Participating in the ceremony were National Constitution Center President and CEO David Eisner, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, and ABC News’ Bob Woodruff.
