On Wednesday, September 29th, locals joined for Isabella’s (382 E Elm St, Conshohocken, PA 19428) soft opening. The place was packed, with guests ranging from Elizabeth Wellington, Nancy and David Gansky, Michael and Pam Katz, and Jennaphr Frederick to Carrie Brescia, Michele Malin Seidman, and Jamie Joffe. They enjoyed a variety of dishes, including tuna Nicoise, mussels, assorted cheeses, and brick-oven pizzas. Guests also sampled Intercourse beer. The menu emphasized organic, fresh, and locally sourced ingredients thanks to chef Michael Cappon, who was previously Director of Culinary Operations at Marathon and El Vez. On Saturday, September 25th, Philadelphia magazine, Subaru and Kaleidoscope Solutions hosted the first annual Craft Beer Experience at City Tap House in University City, Philadelphia. During the 4-hour tasting, guests enjoyed over 80 locally brewed craft beers, food pairings from City Tap House, fireside chats with well-known brewery personalities in the Subaru Lounge and a silent auction. The Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) presented the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Emmy Awards at the Philadelphia Loews on September 25. 83 Emmy® Awards were presented in 70 categories as 400 regional TV professionals gathered for the annual festivities celebrating outstanding achievement in television news, programming and individual achievement in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware. CBS3/CW Philly garnered 22 awards, Comcast SportsNet/The Comcast Network won nine Emmys and NBC10 and Fox 29 each won three. Al Meltzer, recipient of the prestigious NATAS Board of Governors’ Award, was honored for lifetime achievements and significant contributions to the TV industry. The Philadelphia sports casting legend’s career spans a remarkable 50 years in television, including 40 in Philadelphia. A cocktail hour with silent auction to benefit NATAS scholarship programs was followed by a sit-down dinner and Emmy Awards show, with many popular TV news personalities on hand to assist with presentations.
 
Now in its sixth year, Boys in the Country, hosted by Mike Sweeney and Stephen Betts’ at their home in New Hope on September 25,2010, raised over $15,000 to benefit the Mazzoni Center in Philadelphia. More than 400 guests attended and enjoyed food, drink, music and much merriment. It included a giant bonfire that lit up the crisp fall night at the Sweeney-Betts residence. The 21st Annual Jerry Segal Classic to benefit Magee Rehabilitation Hospital in Philadelphia was held Friday, September 24, 2010 at the ACE Golf Club, and the Green Valley Country Club, both on Ridge Pike in Lafayette Hill. The Jerry Segal Classic is the Greater Philadelphia Region’s largest one-day charity golf event. Over the last 20 years, the Classic has raised $9.4 million. And this year, the Segal Classic raised enough money to hit a milestone: raising the total amount given to Magee over the last 21 years to $10 million. All proceeds benefit programs and services for individuals with disabilities at Magee Rehabilitation Hospital. Magee, a non-profit health organization, provides lifetime rehabilitation and wellness programs for persons with spinal cord injury, brain injury, stroke, amputation, orthopedic injury, geriatric illness and work injury. Participants of the Segal Classic were treated to brunch, golf, a cocktail hour with grand hors d’oeuvres and live and silent auctions.
