2011 Liberty Medal Ceremony

On Tuesday, September 13, 2011, Dr. Robert M. Gates was honored with this year's Liberty Medal for his five decades of service to the United States as the director of the CIA and as the civilian head of America's armed forces. Gates has received wide bipartisan support and has throughout his career been dedicated to promoting effective diplomacy, defending our freedom, and supporting the American troops. Participating in the ceremony were National Constitution Center President and CEO David Eisner, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett, and ABC News’ Bob Woodruff. The event was broadcast live on WPVI-TV/6abc.
