American Heart Association's Philadelphia Heart Ball 'Hearts of Fire'
On Saturday, February 20, 2010, the American Heart Association hosted their annual Heart Ball, “Hearts of Fire,” at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott. The event was co-chaired by Carl Buchholz and Karen Dougherty Buchholz, along with physician chair, Dr. Richard Shannon. The event raised $1.2 million for cardiovascular disease and stroke research and education in Southeastern Pennsylvania. Honorees included Manuel N. “Manny” Stamatakis, who received the Heart of Philadelphia award, and William S. Frankl, M.D., who received the Edward S. Cooper, M.D., award.
