On Thursday, October 2, 2008, America's oldest botanical garden, Bartram’s Garden, hosted “Twilight in the Garden,” its annual benefit and silent auction. The benefit raised funds for the preservation of the country’s earliest-known collection of Native American plants. Chef Daniel Stern, owner of Rae and Gayle, provided an innovative menu for the guests, including historically based drinks and updated dishes based on 18th-century ingredients. The event was chaired by Elfie and Chris Haab from Villanova and Julie and Jeff DeVuono of Devon.
