The National Constitution Center presented William Coleman with an award for a lifetime of achievement in civic engagement on Saturday, September 23rd. Mr. Coleman started his career as Secretary of Transportation under President Ford and went on to work in law, business and public service. Coleman was presented the award by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, with an introduction by Peter Jennings of ABC News. Granddaughter, Flavia Colgan (you know her as a political analyst on MSNBC) was on hand as well. Proceeds from the awards dinner will benefit educational programming at the National Constitution Center.
