Body Washes Up on North Wildwood Beach

Police are actively trying to identify the man, believed to be in his early 20s.

Police in North Wildwood are actively investigating the discovery of an unidentified man after his body washed up on the beach between 24th and 25th avenues last night.

The body of a man believed to be in his early 20s was found dead on the beach on Sunday around 9 p.m., the North Wildwood Police Department said in a statement. There were no obvious signs of trauma to the body.

Authorities describe the man as possibly Hispanic with a medium/dark complexion, short black hair and a one-inch scar on his left shoulder. He stood between 5’6’’-5’8’’ and weighed roughly 160 to 180 pounds. The man was wearing maroon cotton Polo shorts with a drawstring when he was discovered.

All police departments in Cape May County were contacted along with the Coast Guard and the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit to see if any of their missing persons reports matched the man’s description.
