Penn, Temple Climb in U.S. News 2018 Grad Program Rankings

Wharton's full-time MBA program tied with Harvard for number one this year.

U.S. News and World Report has released its 2018 graduate program rankings, and several universities in and around Philadelphia have climbed up the list.

That includes programs at the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University and Rutgers University.

Wharton’s full-time MBA program tied with Harvard for number one this year. Also at Penn, the Perelman School of Medicine jumped to fifth on this year’s list of the nation’s best medical schools. The university placed behind competitors like Harvard, Stanford, Johns Hopkins University and the University of California, San Francisco.

Temple University’s full-time MBA program at Fox climbed nine spots to rank 32nd – but more notably, the university’s part-time program ranked 7th, reflecting a big jump from last year’s 16th place ranking. The university’s part-time MBA program now ties with Virginia Tech and ranks in the top 10 among schools like New York University, the University of Chicago, Northwestern University and the University of Michigan.

At Rutger’s University, the law school ranked 62nd this year – a notable jump from last year’s 90th place ranking. Michael Cahill, co-dean of the university’s law school, told the Philadelphia Business Journal that the climb is likely attributed to the recent merger between the school’s Camden and Newark campuses.
