“From Birmingham to Blacks Lives Matter: What Does It Mean to Be a White Ally?” is inspired by the lengthy letter Martin Luther King wrote while locked away in a Birmingham jail, in which he expressed disappointment in the white church and white moderates. The episode features local and national guests exploring the topic of effective white allyship.

Guests include Rev. Dr. Mark Kelly Tyler of Mother Bethel A.M.E. Church; Rabbi Julie Greenberg of Congregation Levy Ha-lr, Heart of the City; Leslie Mac, co-founder of the Safety Pin Box, a subscription service that offers measurable tasks for white people to complete in order to be allies in the fight for black liberation; and George Ciccariello-Maher, associate professor of politics and global studies at Drexel University, who made headlines related to his tweet about white genocide.
