The Best Thing That Happened This Week: A Hot-Air Balloon Landed in Kensington

Coincidence? Or something more?

Hmm, let’s see. The balloon in question was being kept aloft by hot air—lots and lots of hot air. Then something went wrong; it flew too high, encountered heavy winds of resistance, and headed down, down, down, until it made an emergency landing Wednesday on a playground in Kensington—a playground bearing the name of the 25th president of the United States, William McKinley, a man who thwarted his own political party by taking personal control of the 1896 presidential election and who serves as the role model of no less of a dickwad than Karl Rove. Some would call this coincidence. Some, a parable. You make the call.
