WATCH: Protests Outside Trump Campaign’s South Street Office

Activists held a mock beauty pageant to protest Donald Trump’s comments about women.

A group of women gathered outside Donald Trump’s campaign office on South Street this afternoon to protest the Republican presidential candidate’s comments about women over the last few decades. Wearing pageant sashes, they read inflammatory Trump quotes about women from over the years.

“On Howard Stern, Donald Trump proclaimed, ‘A person who is very flat-chested is very hard to be a 10,’” one person read. Another said: “Donald Trump tweeted, ‘I refuse to call Megyn Kelly a bimbo, because that would not be politically correct. Instead I will only call her a lightweight reporter!’” The protest lasted about five minutes. The Trump campaign had no comment.

“We’re out here today because, as women, we’re really fed up with the way Donald Trump disrespects basically any woman that he meets,” said Colleen Kennedy, a spokesperson for the protest. “We want voters out there to know that someone who’s running to become the president of the United States has zero respect for any woman at all and has said absolutely vile, filthy things about them.” The low-key protest was organized by a group called For Pennsylvania’s Future.

The protesters were riffing off Trump’s continued insistence on bringing up his decades-old comments about Alicia Machado, who Trump criticized in the mid-90s for gaining weight after winning the Miss Universe pageant. (Trump owned the pageant at the time.) Hillary Clinton brought it up in the debate, and just this morning Trump tweeted about her again.

But, organizers said, they had quite a few of Trump’s comments about women to choose from. “There’s quite a long list of insults,” Kennedy said. “We didn’t even have enough people to come today compared to all the vile insults that he’s had.”
