WATCH: After Being Hit, Cyclist Stands on SUV’s Hood in Center City

Local filmmaker Sixx King says the driver was trying to flee the scene — and that, yes, he kicked in the car's windshield.

Still from a video by Chris Fries.

Sixx King is a little surprised that he managed to kick through the windshield of an SUV while wearing a pair of Chucks.

On Tuesday, King said, a driver knocked him off his bike near 18th and Chestnut. So King chased the car down and jumped on the hood. He just wanted the car to stop.

“[The driver] started to back up with me on the car, so I kicked the windshield in,” King said over the phone on Wednesday.

We first heard about the incident this morning on Twitter, where a user posted a photo of the immediate aftermath of the incident:

We thought it was happening this morning, when the Tweet was posted, so we went over to the Westin Hotel to see what was up. Nothing. The incident was yesterday. But a Westin employee told us that it was a wild scene while it was happening, and that his colleague had a video of it. Later we got the video, shot by Chris Fries, which doesn’t show the whole chain of events. Just King standing on the hood of the car after kicking the windshield.

Then, after that, the guy who shot the video happened to see King walking by the hotel again, and told him to give us a call. So here we are.

You may have heard of King before. In 2013, he dressed up in public as a Klansman in order to highlight violence in black communities. He directed a film about the same issue, and he’s also a former Daily News Sexy Single.

King said he was shocked that police didn’t arrest the driver of the SUV. Police said an incident report was filed around 1:30 yesterday. A vandalism report was filed at 17th and Ludlow around the same time, according to the Police Department. King said he suffered a slightly torn ligament. Witnesses and police said he left the scene in an ambulance. No charges have been filed.
