NASCAR Drivers Are Doing a Lap Around City Hall

To promote an upcoming XFINITY Series race at Pocono Raceway, drivers will do a lap from the Comcast Center and around City Hall.

Drivers from the NASCAR XFINITY Series will promote an upcoming race at Pocono Raceway by doing a lap around Philadelphia City Hall at noon today.

The XFINITY Series is NASCAR’s second-level circuit, though racers from the top level also often compete in it. Pocono Raceway — known as the “Tricky Triangle” due to its design — hosts the Pocono 250 on Saturday, June 6th. The clumsily- named Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400, on the primary NASCAR Sprint Cup circuit, follows the next day.

XFINITY took over sponsorship of the series formerly sponsored by Busch beer and Nationwide insurance last year. Starting at 11:30, there will be a NASCAR fan event at the Comcast Center plaza. At noon, drivers — including Ty Dillion, driver of the No. 3 Chevrolet Camaro — will do a lap starting and ending at the Comcast Center with a loop around City Hall.

From 5:30 to 7:30, there’s another fan event down at XFINITY Live! in South Philly near the stadiums. And tonight is NASCAR XFINITY Series and Pocono Raceway Night at the Phillies game. Yes, they’re advertising one sport at another sport.
