Young Women Wanted for Violent Robbery of Five Below

They allegedly stabbed a store employee with steak knives.

With most crimes, the suspect images released by police are usually of the Yeah, good luck making an identification variety. But not this one.

The Philadelphia Police Department is searching for the two young women seen here for a violent robbery that took place at the Five Below store on Chestnut Street in Center City last Friday.

According to police, the suspects shoplifted from the two-story Five Below around 6 p.m. They fled onto Chestnut Street, where a store employee pursued them and attempted to get the merchandise back, officials said.

Then, police say, the two young women pulled out steak knives and stabbed the female employee in the neck and back before running north on 16th Street. The Five Below employee was treated at Jefferson University Hospital.

Investigators used social media to track down images of the alleged culprits. The Chestnut Street Five Below store opened in September and is the largest of the Philadelphia-based chain’s 400-plus locations.

Police describe the suspects as follows:

Suspect #1: Black female, 18 years-of-age, medium complected, 5’2’’, 180lbs, glasses, hair in a bun, thick eyebrows, wearing light colored jeans.

Suspect #2: Black female, 18 years-of-age, medium complected, 5’6’’, 140lbs, long black hair, wearing dark clothing.

Anyone with information is asked to call Central Detectives at 215-686-3093 or the police tip line at 215-686-TIPS.
