Joe Biden, Lady Gaga Teaming Up at the Oscars

The Veep will introduce Gaga to promote the White House's "It's On Us" message against campus sexual assault.

VP Joe Biden is taking to the Oscars to promote his message against campus sexual assault. Biden will be introducing Lady Gaga before her performance of Oscar-nominated “Til it Happens to You.” The song, which was released last year and is featured in the film The Hunting Ground, focuses on the act of sexual assault, the response of victims and friends, and the prominence of sexual assaults at colleges.

Biden has long been a proponent of preventing sexual assault. Most recently in 2014, Biden and President Obama launched their “It’s On Us” campaign that asks students to intervene when they see misconduct, to understand consent is always necessary, and to create environments where sexual assault is not acceptable and survivors are supported.

This Sunday, Biden and his wife, Jill, are expected to bring that message to the main stage of Hollywood at the 88th Academy Awards, where Gaga’s track is up for Best Original Song.

This won’t be the first time Gaga and the White House have collaborated. Back in 2011, the pop singer met with White House Officials to discuss bullying. She even preformed “Born This Way” at the 2013 White House Ball.
