Donovan McNabb Gets 18 Days in Jail for DUI

He'll also serve 72 days of home confinement, perform community service and pay a fine. This was McNabb's second DUI conviction in two years.

Donovan McNabb is going to jail.

The former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback was sentenced to 18 days in jail for driving under the influence in June. He will serve work release during his time locked up, spending nights in a Maricopa County, Arizona, facility.

McNabb was arrested after he rear-ended a car at a stop light in Gilbert, Arizona. Police said McNabb blew a .17 on a breathalyzer test, more than double the legal intoxication limit for operating a motor vehicle in the state.

McNabb will also spend 72 days in home confinement, complete 30 hours of community service, attend counseling and pay a fine of $6,342.23. He is on unsupervised probation until he completes his sentence. His lawyer told TMZ he has completed 16 hours of alcohol counseling and “already does hundreds of hours of community service each year so 30 will be no problem.”

This is McNabb’s second DUI arrest and conviction. He previously spent one day in jail for a 2013 DUI; he was convicted in 2014. “I have had other high profile athletes who have been incarcerated with no problems and this latest athlete follows that same pattern,” Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio said at the time.

In the most recent incident, McNabb originally told police he had been using cold medicine. He admitted he was at a bar, but said he wasn’t drinking. Police found a bottle of tequila in his trunk. Fox suspended McNabb after the DUI charge. The former Eagles QB, who played from 1999 to 2009 for the Eagles, also took leave from his NBC Radio show, “Under Center with McNabb & Malone.”

McNabb must report by the end of November.
