Woman Abducted In West Philadelphia On Halloween [UPDATED]

Police say that bystanders did nothing to help.

UPDATE 11/1/2015 6:10 p.m.: Good news comes from the Philadelphia Police Department. The woman has been identified and located, and it turns out that the incident was far less serious than it could have been. Here is the statement released by police:

Good evening, thanks to the quick response from our media affiliates in releasing the provided information, the female in the attached photos has been identified and located.

The female was upset due to recent personal matters and she had fled from another vehicle while driving with a family member. The video that was released to the media depicts the female’s family members grabbing her to take her home where she would receive the full support of her family.

On Halloween night in West Philadelphia, the woman seen in these photos was forced into a minivan at a West Philadelphia gas station, and now police are asking for the public’s help.

At 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, police were called to the Sunoco gas station at the corner of 52nd and Spruce streets for a report of an “unusual incident.” When police arrived, witnesses reported that the woman seen in the photos was forced into a light colored minivan.

Investigators were able to obtain surveillance footage. According to police, the woman made a purchase at the store and was grabbed immediately upon exiting. A man dragged her some fifteen feet to the car and then forced her inside. He fled southbound on 52nd Street. Police also say that bystanders can be seen on the video doing absolutely nothing to help her.

Police do not have the identity of the woman at this time. She is described by police as follows:

Unknown Black female, brown complexion, late teens to mid 20’s, 180-200lbs, heavy build, black and red hair that extends to the lower portion of her back and tattoos on her chest, wearing a black and white (or silver) striped blouse, white neck tie, and dark tights.

The man who grabbed her is described as follows:

Brown complexioned bearded black male, in his mid to late 30’s, wearing a dark gray hooded jacket, blue jeans, and tan boots.
