On Monday, the Atlantic City Police Department arrested 25-year-old Ibn Hunter, charging him with the aggravated assault of a 45-year-old homeless woman. Police were assisted in the investigation by a Facebook video that was shared over the weekend. Investigators say that Hunter is the man seen punching the homeless woman in that video.

Please note: The video seen below is disturbing. In the video, the attacker is seen taunting the woman and then punching her in the face. She falls backward, apparently unconscious. He seemed well aware that incident was being recorded on video.

The assault occurred on Saturday in Atlantic City’s Brown’s Park, just a few blocks from the Atlantic City Convention Center and the popular outlets along Baltic Avenue. A reporter for the Press of Atlantic City newspaper saw the video circulating online on Saturday morning and called police, who found the woman in critical condition in AtlantiCare’s ICU.

Investigators identified the suspect as Hunter (his first name is alternately spelled Ibn and Iben), who lives in Atlantic City, and they put up wanted posters around the city. On Monday morning, a local cop saw Hunter near the intersection of Kentucky and Arctic avenues, where Brown’s Park is located, and placed him under arrest.

Hunter is being charged with aggravated assault and remains in jail in lieu of $100,000 bail. According to the Press of Atlantic City, police are still trying to determine who shot the video, which was posted repeatedly on the Facebook profile of a user known as Bdsb BroadDay. That user wrote that the woman attempted to spit on the suspect.

If you know who shot the video or have any other information, call police at 609-347-5766.
