Attack Outside Manayunk Bar Leaves Man in ICU

Police describe these five people as "potential witnesses."

Good things don’t normally happen at 3 a.m., and especially not outside of bars in Manayunk. In this case, a man was seriously injured in an attack.

The aggravated assault took place on September 5th outside of Spanky’s Pub at 4600 Umbria Street. Police say that a 32-year-old man was standing outside when a verbal altercation took place between him and another man. The 32-year-old man was hit in the head and wound up unconscious, and his injuries were bad enough that they sent him to intensive care at Temple for several days.

According to police, the man who was assaulted got into it with some of the patrons inside Spanky’s Pub earlier in the night but that the earlier matter had been resolved.

The five people pictured are potential witnesses to the attack, say police. In the surveillance video (below), there’s also a shirtless man described as a “person of interest,” but the image is far too grainy to make out anything useful.
