WATCH: Timelapse of Ice Rink Creation at Wells Fargo Center

It's 90 degrees out. It's almost time for hockey season to begin.

Philadelphia is currently in the middle of a heat wave. Who’s ready for some Flyers hockey?!

Yes, that’s right: We’re now past Labor Day, which means NHL preseason is almost here. Rookie camp starts Monday! Veterans start skating on the 18th! NHL exhibition games start on the 20th!

Yesterday, staff at the Wells Fargo Center poured the ice rink at the Wells Fargo Center, a process that’s actually pretty cool to watch when it’s compressed to a minute in length. (Philadelphia magazine cannot recommend watching a version of this footage that is not time-compressed.)

The Flyers are coming off a disappointing season, where they went 33-31-18 and missed the playoffs for the second time in three seasons. They begin the season on the road against the Ottawa Senators on October 8th.
