Montco State Rep. to Run for Attorney General

Todd Stephens released a four-minute video about himself, too.

State Rep. Todd Stephens, who is a Republican and represents part of Montgomery County, announced today he was running for Attorney General in 2016. He released a four-minute video, primarily focusing on his time as a Montgomery County and federal prosecutor.

Stephens first won election to the Pennsylvania House in 2010, when he defeated incumbent Rick Taylor in a rematch of the 2008 election. He’s now in his third term. The incumbent attorney general is Kathleen Kane. Despite being indicted earlier this month, Kane says she is still running for re-election.

Stephens released a four-minute video that includes an image of the state representative hawking beer at Veterans Stadium sometime in the 1990s.

The 151st legislative district, which Stephens represents, includes Montgomery and Horsham townships and parts of Lower Gwynedd and Upper Dublin Townships. According to his official bio, he went to Hatboro-Horsham and Shippensburg and has focused on preventing and prosecuting online sex crimes.

According to Politics PA, the field is crowded already in the race for attorney general. Republican State Sen. John Raffert has already announced he’d run for the GOP nomination. Delco prosecutor Jack Stollsteimer, a Democrat, has also announced.
