WATCH: Plane Makes Emergency Landing on Highway Down the Shore

Amazingly, only one small injury was reported. Police didn’t know in advance the plane was going to crash-land.

A plane made an emergency landing on New Jersey’s Route 72 in Stafford Township over the weekend, according to the township police department. Fortunately for us, the township also released the traffic-cam footage of the landing. Amazingly, only one small injury was reported.

Stafford police say the single-engine plane was carrying students from Skydive East Coast, a skydiving school near Long Beach Island. The plane lost power, forcing the pilot to make a landing on the highway.

Route 72 was closed for 90 minutes while authorities investigated. A skydiving instructor was treated for a cut to the arm, but no other injuries were reported to police.

The police department said it didn’t know the plane was making an emergency landing until afterward when it received frantic calls from passersby. No cars were struck by the plane.

The investigation has been turned over to the FAA.
