Stabbing Inside Prestigious Main Line Hebrew School

Jack Barrack Hebrew Academy in Radnor turned into a crime scene on Monday morning.

The Jack Barrack Hebrew Academy on Bryn Mawr Avenue in Radnor is generally a pretty calm place. But on Monday morning, the Main Line school was the scene of an assault.

Here’s how head-of-school Sharon Levin explained what she characterized as a “disturbance.”

“A current kitchen employee was assailed by a former kitchen employee,” she wrote in a posting on the school’s website. “This took place while all of our students were in class. The assailant immediately fled the property. He has been identified and is currently in custody. As a precautionary measure, our school immediately followed our lock down procedure and at no time was any student or employee in danger.”

Well, other than the employee that was attacked. According to police, the assailant, who has yet to be identified, stabbed and threw bleach at the kitchen worker.

The identity of the suspect and the condition of the victim were not immediately available.

The Jack Barrack Hebrew Academy has been in the area since 1946 and in its current location since 2008. On the school’s website, it is described as the “oldest pluralistic, co-educational Jewish day school in North American for students in grades 6-12.” There are approximately 350 students enrolled. Alumni include CNN’s Jake Tapper, Montco pol Josh Shapiro and author Mitch Albom.
