UPDATE: 6ABC is reporting that the Amber Alert for Elinor Trotta has been cancelled and that she and her father were located this afternoon in Spencer, Massachusetts. Elinor is reportedly safe, and her father is in custody.

Elinor’s father, 43-year-old Michael Trotta, is now in police custody, charged with assault, carjacking, endangering the welfare of a child, and reckless endangerment.

The Worcester Telegram adds that Michael Trotta was arrested peacefully by the FBI, the Massachusetts State Police and the Spencer Police. They add that the reason Trotta went to Spencer is unknown.

Michael A. Trotta, 43, was arrested without incident and taken into custody by the FBI, the Massachusetts state police and Spencer police, the FBI said in a news release. Mr. Trotta had fled the New Castle, Delaware, area with the child Monday night, the release said.

Mr. Trotta is being held without bail and is to be arraigned on a fugitive-from-justice charge in Western Worcester District Court in East Brookfield, according to the FBI. The FBI referred further questions to the New Castle Police Department in Delaware.

ORIGINAL: This is Elinor Trotta, a 3-year-old New Castle, Delaware, girl who is missing, allegedly abducted by her father, Michael Trotta, who is believed to be armed and dangerous. The young girl is believed to be in “imminent danger,” according to authorities, and an Amber Alert was issued for her in the early morning hours on Tuesday — much to the dismay of some people whose phones chimed when the alert came in.

They took to Twitter to complain:

“Did that Amber alert really have to go off at 2am?” asked one.

“Too early for this fuckin amber alert,” declared another.

“Ugh that Amber alert woke me up lastnight…”

And so on and so forth.

This is just a sampling of the many, many people on Twitter who claimed they were inconvenienced by the Amber Alert.

Since then, WXPN producer Robert Drake (and many others) have taken to social media to shame the complainers:

Meanwhile, several hours after the Amber Alert was issued, it is still active, since this 3-year-old girl is still missing, in the company of her probably-armed-and-dangerous father.

Alerts have now been issued throughout the Delaware Valley and into Ohio.

Here is the latest alert as of 8 a.m. If you have information, call 911 immediately.
