Man Beaten, Robbed During Christmas Eve Craigslist MacBook Sale

A man agreed to sell his laptop to a person he met on Craigslist. When he went to complete the sale, he was beaten and robbed.

After agreeing to sell his MacBook on Craigslist, a man was beaten and robbed on Christmas Eve when he arrived at a convenience store to complete the sale.

The incident late last year happened at the 7-Eleven at Cottman and Brous avenues in the Mayfair section of Northeast Philadelphia. Cops say the man put his MacBook up for sale on Craigslist, and was contacted by a buyer. The two agreed to meet at that 7-Eleven on December 24th.

When the victim arrived at the store, he approached an employee to ask him if there was anyone at the store attempting to purchase a laptop. As the victim conversed with the employee just before 4 p.m., an unknown man sucker-punched him from behind. The attacker then took the laptop, valued at $2,500, and fled the store.

Police released surveillance video from before and after the attack.

The suspect fled in an unknown direction. Police also released this description:

Suspect Description: Black male, 20 years-of-age, 6’3″-6’4″, thin build, wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black shoes.
